Règlement sur le port de casques est à l’étude
Devrait-on exiger le port de casques sur les patinoires de Gatineau?
Le conseiller Frank Thérien a montré le nouveau panneau la semaine dernière sur la rue Louis-Roy qui fait place à l’ancien panneau de la rue Juniper; ce changement assurera qu’aucune rue ne viendra remplacer les arbres et les espaces verts dans Wychwood. Les résidents du secteur Wychwood s’étaient opposés à la ville qui prévoyait cons truire une rue pour relier les deux voisinages. M. Thérien avait demandé avec insistance que les administrateurs muni cipaux changent l’ancien panneau. « Je voulais que cela se fasse avant de som brer dans l’oubli. De futurs conseils auraient pu permettre des développements. »
Un parc portant le nom de Louis Roy sera aménagé dans le secteur. « Louis Roy était un bon conseiller, » commentait le conseiller André Laframboise. M. Thérien partage cet avis. “ Le secteur Wychwood lui tenait à coeur et il se portait à la défense de ses droits; il est tout à fait justifié de nommer une rue et un parc en sa mémoire. » L’ouverture officielle se fera l’été prochain.

Charlotte L’Écuyer launches re-election bid

Charlotte L’Écuyer, the present MNA for Pontiac (Aylmer), opened her re-election campaign, February 26, at the Cinema Galeries Aylmer, citing both the difficulties which have plagued the rural areas of the riding and the positive measures taken by her government over the past four years. Ms L’Écuyer, the parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Health, stressed major investments in health services and schools. She noted substantial financial help for economic diversification in the rural areas, which in turn support Aylmer’s economy, and outlined funding for culture and communications, including aid for Aylmer’s Centre d’Exposition l’Imagier. Besides the substantial returns to the riding which Ms L’Écuyer has worked to bring about, she has made a reputation for dealing with problems faced by her constituents due to economic forces and administrative complexities, as well as problems of growth felt by local businesses.
Although she won her first election with one of the strongest pluralities in the province and with polls giving her a substantial lead for this election, Ms L’Écuyer was not discounting her competition. She advised that all the Parti Québécois offers is “one thing, and that is sovereignty”.
The MNA’s campaign office is at 23 rue Principale in Aylmer, open Monday through Saturday.
