---- The mill and hydro ruins at Deschenes Rapids
I am disgusted with the idea that the "RUINS" take tax-payers' money to protect dangerous, unattractive, uninviting clumps of concrete at the most beautiful park location in Aylmer.
The plan most certainly should be the ruins' demolition, asap, and the creation of a run-of-the-river series of low head turbines with a bike bridge / walking bridge to the Ottawa side of the river...why not? The distance to Ottawa is no more than 1,500 feet. It's simply amazing as to what could be imagined, designed and engineered at this rather amazing site.
I think the Quebec Government should take the lead and most certainly involve the MTQ, Hydro Quebec and the National Capital Commission. Protecting the "ruins" is a dumb-ass idea!!
