289 rental units under construction in the Plateau sector

A new residential rental project comprising 289 units is taking shape in the Plateau sector of Gatineau. Named GOHA, the complex is being built at the corner of Boulevard du Plateau and Chemin Vanier and represents a private investment of $112 million, with the Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ and Capital Square among the key investors. The project is currently under construction and is scheduled to welcome its first residents on July 1, 2027.

The development will consist primarily of one- and two-bedroom units, as well as 11 three-bedroom units. A total of 44 units are designated as affordable housing, representing approximately 15% of the project. The announced rent for these units is $1,200 per month.

The City of Gatineau welcomes the addition of housing units but also acknowledges that rents remain particularly high, as noted by Caroline Murray, chair of the City of Gatineau’s housing task force. Murray stated that Gatineau is the most expensive city in Quebec in terms of housing costs.

For their part, developers have emphasized the increase in rental supply, which could help ease pressure on the market. However, the City notes that its priority also remains increasing the number of off-market housing units.

The GOHA project will feature several common areas, including co-working spaces, a rooftop pool, and a fitness center.
