Looking for love in Aylmer: summer activities for singles
Greg Newing
If you are single and looking to meet a special someone this summer, several activities organized to help single people meet in person are planned for the upcoming weeks. On Thursday August h at 7 pm there will be a singles’ night at the British pub. The event is for men and women who are single, separated or divorced, and who would like to meet someone local and in person rather than online. The age range is 39 to 65 and the evening will include mingling and ice breakers followed by speed dating sessions and the possibility of ending the night with dinner for two.
This is the second singles’ night in Aylmer this summer. The previous event held in July had 23 women and 17 men participate. The event organizer, Karen Clark, has put a call out for more men to attend so that there will be even numbers. There is room for 50 people at the singles evening, to attend, look for the event post on the Aylmer Community Group Facebook page, posted on July 19, and leave a comment in the thread.
In addition to the singles evenings, Clark also organizes group dinners for single, separated or divorced women on Friday evenings at restaurants around Aylmer. The purpose of the dinners is to meet new people and discover local restaurants together. Women interested to join should also keep an eye out for Karen’s posts on the Aylmer Community Group.
Single people who prefer to meet others in a more active, outdoor activity, can go to the des Cèdres beach on Wednesdays at 6:30 for a pick-up game of singles volleyball. The games are for those of all experience levels. For more information about singles volleyball contact Patrick Plante at: patrick.plante99@gmail.com .
