Louise Boudrias takes leave for cancer treatment, mayor's office appoints Daniel Champagne as interim Deputy Mayor

On January 4, the Municipal Council named Daniel Champagne, Councillor for the District of Versant, as temporary Deputy Mayor. The appointment followed the announcement that Louise Boudrias, Councillor for the Parc-de-la-Montagne-Saint-Raymond district, was taking indefinite leave for health reasons and that it was required in order to deploy a pandemic and Omicron variant contingency plan. “We have a responsibility to ensure that decisions are made on an ongoing basis for the benefit of our citizens and our city, regardless of the circumstances.” said Mayor France Bélisle. “The contagion associated with the Omicron variant requires that we proceed with caution in appointing substitutes, which the Council has done. I thank Daniel Champagne for taking on this role. This decision will also allow our colleague, Louise Boudrias, to focus on her recovery and we are already looking forward to seeing her back at the council table.”
Jocelyn Blondin, Councillor for the Manoir-des-Trembles-Val-Tétreau district, will temporarily take over in Boudrias' district. All appointments came into effect January 4. Boudrias was recently re-elected for her third term as the Councillor of Parc-de-la-Montagne-Saint-Raymond district
Boudrias and her family issued a press release stating that she has recently been diagnosed with cancer and will take leave in order to put all her energy into recovery. The press release notes that the family would like to deal with this difficult challenge in private. "Thank you again for reiterating your trust in me. It is with great regret that I need to take a break from this work which I have done with passion and dedication since the day of my first election. Know that I continue to be attached to our beautiful neighborhood and that I wish wholeheartedly to return to your service as quickly as possible," say Boudrias, “I am blessed to be surrounded by my spouse, my family, my children, my grandchildren and all our friends. They join me in thanking you sincerely for your understanding.”
All of us at the Aylmer Bulletin offer our best wishes to Louise Boudrias and her family for her recovery.
