Men’s volleyball: Canada and U.S. split weekend sets in Gatineau

Team Canada's men's indoor volleyball team competed against the United States volleyball team over the weekend of June 6-7 at the Gatineau Sports Centre. Both teams swept one day: Canada won all three sets on Saturday, but the Americans fought back on Sunday, winning all three sets as well. The tournament was a friendly, exhibition-style event designed to prepare both teams for the Volleyball Nations League, which took place from June 10 to 14 at TD Place in Ottawa.
Canada dominated Saturday's matches, taking the first set 25–18. The second set was more evenly matched, with outstanding plays from both teams, but Canada pulled ahead late to win 25–19. The third set was intense, with both teams trading blows. Canada won the set 25–20, officially sweeping Saturday's matches.
The United States bounced back on Sunday, dominating the first two sets and winning them 25–20 and 25–18, respectively. Canada fought hard in the third set, but ultimately lost 26–28, falling short in the match 3–0.
Team Canada fought hard in both games and was headed to TD Place to compete in the Volleyball Nations League. Their first match was against Team Germany on Wednesday, June 10.
