Nurse Sharon Laplante brings preventive and personalized care to new parents at home
Sophie Demers
Many residents have difficulty finding health care where they feel heard and understood. For new parents, this can feel overwhelming and stressful with a new little one to care for. Local nurse Sharon Laplante aims to provide relief.
For the past year, she has worked as a mobile cradle nurse offering in-home and virtual care appointments for new or expecting parents. With over two decades of experience as a nurse within both the public and private health-care systems, Laplante offers families clinical expertise and reassurance.
“In the current public health-care system, I noticed a collective vulnerability,” she said. “After the initial postnatal visit, many families don’t see a health-care professional again until the two-month vaccines. The nurses with the CLSC that do the initial postnatal visit are extraordinary; however, some families want to have extra support. Prevention and presence – that’s what I do.”
Laplante says her Info-Bébé services allows parents to ask all their questions so they can be confident and at ease caring for their baby without feeling rushed through the appointment. “I have saved parents from anxiety and sleepless nights, and from many visits to the emergency room. I want them to know they have someone on their side.”
Laplante can issue receipts for insurance. For more information or to book an appointment, visit her website: https://sharonlaplante.com/.
