Old Aylmer lovely for pedestrians…but….
With covid measures lifting I’ve spent more time in Old Aylmer. Rue Principale is lovely but why is it so hard to cross the street? There are very few places to cross from one side to the other. When it isn’t busy with cars, that’s fine. But when it gets just a bit busy, all of a sudden, the sidewalks are packed and too narrow, bikes slow down traffic with those dangerous extended sidewalks then narrowing again for cars to park – pushing bikes way out in the car lanes.
And for pedestrians, forgetaboutit! Trying to cross around Marché Laflamme or further down in nearer the water is scary. I heard the city was to put in new cross-walks. Too bad it wasn’t done before the beautiful weather.
