---Outaouais mourns Chelsea teen killed in motorcycle crash
On May 1, a 19-year-old teenager from Chelsea died after colliding with a sports utility vehicle (SUV) while driving a motocross. According to a press release issued by the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais Police issued on May 4, the crash occurred at around 1:30 pm near 495 chemin Lac Sinclair in La Pêche. The victim, Owen Hawkins, was taken to hospital before being pronounced dead. Police said the road was closed for a number of hours, to allow officers to investigate the scene.
Upon investigating, police determined that the victim was following the SUV southbound on chemin Sinclair, until the leading driver suddenly made a U-turn. The victim then crashed his off-road bike into the car. Police said several factors could have possibly caused the crash.
The following day, police conducted a mechanical inspection of the motorcycle. It stated that the incident was the third fatal crash to happen on the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais territory this year.
