LETTER

 

----  Please explain Afghanistan,

 

Can someone explain the current hullabaloo about exiting from our attempted occupation of Afghanistan?  Trump, king of the world, told us two years ago that the Americans were leaving ... and without them, why would Canada be there?  

Fast forward and we find the exit virtually complete, but for all those folks (thousands, apparently) who clearly knew they were walking targets for the returning Taliban, or but for the people who actually flew into the country for all sorts of reasons -- a wedding, funeral, a humanitarian posting, a journalism assignment, or diplomatic and bureaucratic purposes.  These folks were all walking into Hell, with no thought of getting out, despite the chaos and uncertainties of warfare?  

And it's Trudeau's fault that we were unable to get all of them out, including their in-laws, ageing and ill parents, and children.  The heartbreak and the tragedy is clear, undeniable.   But so too isn't the apparent lack of planning, wisdom and foresight of so many of these people?
