Raven or crow?
What is the female raven called? The crow (and even less so the corbeille) is not the female raven.
In fact, the raven and the crow are two very distinct species. We must therefore say male or female raven, and the same applies to the crow.
But do you know how to tell the two birds apart? Let's start with their common characteristics.
First of all, they belong to the Corvidae family. They are large birds that are completely black from the tip of their beaks to the ends of their tails. In the sun, their plumage has a purplish sheen.
They are omnivores, feeding on insects, fruit, seeds, and small mammals. They also delight in the garbage we produce, readily tearing open trash bags in search of food.
They are ubiquitous in all environments, both in the city and in the countryside. They can easily be spotted in forests, woodlands, and farmland.
They build their nests out of branches, bark, moss, and twigs in the forks of tall trees. When they form a pair, they are united for life.
Finally, they are known for their intelligence and well-developed social behaviors.
But what about the differences? To find out, we invite you to read our next capsule!
