Remembering Constance Provost

 

Constance Provost passed away at the age of 96 on the 9th of January; she was the mayor of Aylmer from ‘83 to ‘95, and much loved with good reason.  She felt very close to her people.  I remember one thing that happened on our crescent; a lady who was recently widowed called her to complain that she felt insecure because the street outside her house was so dark and mentioned, by the way, that she had no success selling her late husband’s car.  Within record time a street light was erected on that corner and the mayor herself bought the car!
