Skate the vibes as Park des cèdres provides the tunes

Tashi Farmilo

Get ready to lace up the skates as Park des cèdres in Aylmer becomes the site of a series of themed skating events this winter, organized by the City of Gatineau through its Enjoy Winter program. Designed to bring residents together for music, movement, and seasonal fun, each event is free and open to all, with entertainment, a fire pit, and a food truck on site. Skate and helmet rentals are available with the Accès Gatineau+ card.

The series begins on January 10 from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm with Enjoy Your Ice Rink: 80s–90s Retro Night. Skaters can take to the ice under colourful lights while classic hits from the 1980s and 1990s play throughout the evening.

Next up, on January 24 from 1 pm to 4 pm, Enjoy Your Ice Rink: Disney Music brings a magical experience to the rink. Disney favourites will play as families enjoy themed face painting, a warm fire pit, and snacks from the food truck.

Enjoy Your Ice Rink: Electro Night follows on January 31 from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, turning the rink into a glowing space filled with high-energy beats and dynamic lighting.

Romance takes over on February 14 from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm with Enjoy Your Ice Rink: Valentine’s Day Special. Themed face painting, festive music, and a cozy fire create the perfect setting for couples and friends.

Latin vibes are featured on February 28 from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, Enjoy Your Ice Rink: An Evening of Latin Rhythms features salsa, bachata, and reggaeton, bringing warmth and movement to the winter rink.

The final event in the series, Enjoy Your Ice Rink: Folk Music, will take place on March 4 from   1 pm to 4 pm, with traditional tunes and a relaxed afternoon atmosphere.
